Portugese knitting is a style which involves different movements from the usual Continental knitting styles. What also makes this style so unique is the tension of the yarn coming from a pin which is attached to the chest of the knitter.
Portuguese knitting has many benefits including stopping strands of yarn becoming tangled and keeping a even tension, great if your knitting stitches start off loose and finish tight at the end of your project.
It also allows you to knit with limitations such as arthritis and carpal tunnel as the stitches involve very small movements including a flicking motion with your thumb.
There is aCraftsy class on Portuguese knitting that teaches you how to do it and perfect it, speeding up your knitting in the process: find out more HERE.
