This shawl came about as a result of a long-held desire to come up with my first own lace design. Both of the leaf-designs I used are well-known but I’ve  never seen them used in one shawl design before. For the shawl in the picture I used different colours for the main body and the edge, but this design is equally effective when knitted in one shade throughout.

If you have not knitted lace before, here’s a word of serious warning: throughout knitting, you may have grave concerns that it is not working out. That your choice of yarn isn’t right. Or your gauge is wrong. Or the colours you have chosen. IGNORE THESE URGES! Stick with it. Keep the faith in your project until you have finished blocking it. Lace does not come into its own until all the knitting is done and the piece has been blocked. Trust me. You’ll be amazed.
